MANDARIN

Tangerine (Citrus reticulata) is a fruit species belonging to the Citrus family (Rutaceae) grown in temperate climates. Mandarin orange, yellow in color, has a fleshy and juicy structure. Tangerine can be eaten after peeling, which is softer than an orange, or it can be drunk by squeezing the juice.

There are varieties such as tangerina, nova, kinnow, fremond, klausellina, robinson, okitsu, satsuma, ankor, clementine, fortune, domestic, lee, fairchild marisol, minneola, oriental, kara, ovari.

It is mostly grown in the Mediterranean, coastal areas of the Aegean region and partially in the Black Sea Region in Turkey.

Like all Citrus, it likes heat. However, certain species such as Satsuma (Rize Mandarin) have higher cold resistance than other citrus fruits such as oranges and lemons.

In the place where this tree is grown, the temperatures should not fall below -3, -4 degrees. At temperatures below -9, -10 degrees, tangerine trees can freeze to death. The highest temperatures it cannot withstand are 45 degrees and above.
